The module allows the determination of the risk related to the manual handling of hospitalized patients using a calculation algorithm obtained through the application of the MAPI index (Movement and Assistance Hospitalized Patients).

The MAPO Method was developed by the research group EPM (Ergonomics of Posture and Movement) of the ICP CEMOC (Clinical Institutes of Specialization - Center of Occupational Medicine) of Milan.

Petra® MAPO helps to give a quantitative assessment of the level of risk to which health professionals can be subjected.

Features

  • Determination of the organizational structure of the hospital business structure
  • Entry of personnel data
  • Input of auxiliary dataEntry of hospitalization data
  • MAPO index calculation
  • MAPO Screening

The methodology

The methodology on which the construction of the synthetic exposure index MAPO (2) is based considers two fundamental aspects:

A) recognition of the main elements that can determine the extent of exposure:
  • presence of non self-sufficient patients: lifting, pulling / pushing operations;
  • type / degree of motor disability of the patients;
  • structural aspects of work and hospitalization environments;
  • supplied equipment;
  • operator training. (permanence in incongruous postures).
B) Identification of:
  • "What or who" is usually moved? (non self-sufficient patients)
  • What causes an increase in lifting frequency or biomechanical overload on the lumbar spine? (absence of equipment, inadequacy of spaces and furnishings, specific organization of work, lack of training)
